Diagnostic/Laboratory Testing

Laboratory testing plays a crucial role in maintaining your pet’s health and detecting potential issues before they become serious. We offer a combination of essential in-house diagnostics and comprehensive testing through our trusted reference laboratory to ensure accurate, timely, and thorough results.

In-House Testing

Our clinic is equipped to perform several important tests right here during your pet’s visit, including:

  • Heartworm Testing - Detects the presence of heartworm disease, which can be life-threatening if left untreated.
  • Feline Leukemia and FIV Testing – Screening for two contagious viruses that can compromise a cat’s immune system and overall health.
  • Basic Bloodwork (Chemistry & CBC) - Evaluates organ function, red and white blood cell counts, and overall internal health.
  • Urinalysis - Assesses kidney function, hydration status, and can help detect urinary tract infections or diabetes.

These tests provide quick, valuable insights—especially for pets showing signs of illness or before undergoing anesthesia for procedures.

Annual Wellness Testing

We strongly recommend annual wellness testing, even for pets that appear healthy. Pets often hide signs of illness, and early changes in bloodwork may be the only clue that something is wrong. Routine lab screenings help us:

  • Detect early stages of kidney or liver disease
  • Monitor for diabetes, thyroid issues, or anemia
  • Track baseline values to detect future changes
  • Tailor care to your pet’s specific health needs as they age

Catching disease early means we can begin treatment or make lifestyle changes before the condition progresses, leading to better outcomes and often lower long-term costs.

Comprehensive Reference Lab Services

For more advanced diagnostics, we work closely with a trusted veterinary reference lab to provide:

  • Fecal and intestinal parasite screening
  • Tick-borne disease testing (e.g., Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma)
  • Comprehensive chemistry and CBC testing
  • Histopathology and cytology for evaluating masses and abnormal tissues
  • Allergy testing to identify food or environmental sensitivities
  • Advanced hormone and endocrine testing

We’re here to help you understand what testing your pet may need and why. Together, we’ll build a diagnostic plan tailored to your pet’s age, lifestyle, and medical history.
